Chris Robson earned an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Alberta where he was also a critical part of launching Alberta's first satellite, the Experimental Albertan #1 (Ex-Alta 1) satellite. Ex-Alta 1 was designed, build and launched by the AlbertaSat student group and launched from the ISS in May of 2017. Chris participated with AlbertaSat by serving as the project manager of Ex-Alta 1 from 2012 - 2014, then served as the lead of the mechanical design team for Ex-Alta 1 from 2014 - 2016. Chris currently serves AlbertaSat as a mentor and adviser to younger team members. Shortly after graduating in 2016, Chris started his masters of science in mechanical engineering at the University of Alberta where he studies aerodynamic attitude control methods for Cube Satellites. At the same time, Chris started a space company (Promethean Labs) where he served as CEO until leaving in October of 2017.Chris's goals include having a career in the space industry, bringing the space industry to Alberta (to strengthen Canada's), industrializing low earth orbit and working to help humanity colonize the solar system.
